ADEME

French ecological transition agency. Publishes the reference emission factors (Base Carbone) used for carbon accounting.

ADEME (Agence de la transition écologique) is the French public agency in charge of national energy and climate policy. It publishes and maintains Base Carbone, the official emission factor database used in France to calculate corporate or product carbon footprints.

Under French regulation (BEGES, article L229-25 of the Environmental Code), ADEME defines the expected methodology, the mandatory scopes (Scopes 1 and 2 for regulated entities) and the reporting formats. It also operates the public submission platform bilans-ges.ademe.fr.

Kabaun uses ADEME Base Carbone as a primary source of emission factors for FR calculations, and tracks the version used for every emission line so that any report stays reproducible during an audit.
