SBTi

Science Based Targets initiative: international body validating corporate carbon reduction targets aligned with 1.5°C.

SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) is a joint initiative of CDP, WRI, WWF and the UN Global Compact that defines and validates corporate GHG reduction targets, ensuring they are consistent with Paris Agreement climate scenarios (1.5°C or well below 2°C).

A company submits a target (for example: a 42% reduction of its Scope 1+2 by 2030 vs. 2019), with a mandatory Scope 3 analysis if it exceeds 40% of the total. SBTi checks alignment with sectoral methods (SDA, ACA) and publishes the validation. The Net-Zero Standard additionally requires a 2050 pathway with at least 90% absolute reduction.

Kabaun computes the expected SBTi trajectory from your base year, flags annual gaps versus your plan, and generates a pre-filled SBTi submission form to accelerate official validation.
